Values of Membership

The New York State Health Facilities Association/New York State Center for Assisted Living (NYSHFA | NYSCAL) is a member-driven association of providers of long-term care services, caring for individuals of all ages in proprietary, not-for-profit, and government-sponsored skilled nursing, post-acute, rehab, adult care and assisted living communities across the state of New York.

NYSHFA | NYSCAL is dedicated to assisting its members in achieving excellence through leadership, professional development, and active involvement in the shaping of public policy. Through communication, education, and collaboration, NYSHFA | NYSCAL will position its members to be recognized by government, health care community, and general public as industry experts in quality long-term care services in New York State.

NYSHFA | NYSCAL is the New York affiliate of the American Health Care Association and the National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) and is the largest association in the United States representing long-term and post-acute care providers, with more than 14,000 member facilities. Our diverse membership includes non-profit and proprietary skilled nursing centers, assisted living communities, sub-acute centers, and homes for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. By delivering solutions for quality care, AHCA/NCAL aims to improve the lives of the millions of frail, elderly, and individuals with disabilities who receive long-term or post-acute care in our member facilities each day.

AHCA/NCAL represents the long-term care community to the nation at large –to government, business leaders, and the general public. AHCA/NCAL serves as a force for change, providing information, education, and administrative tools that enhance quality at every level. As part of our extensive portfolio of member services, AHCA/NCAL maintains legislative, regulatory, and public affairs. Our dedicated staff works both internally and externally to assist member providers, the government, and the general public. You will also enjoy substantial member discounts at NCAL’s Online Bookstore, which features the latest in cutting-edge staff training programs in senior care. Check out our publications at https://www.ncal.org. Our affiliates, and member providers advocate for individuals who –because of social needs, disability, trauma or illness–require services provided in a long-term or assisted living setting. We continue to advocate for the vitality of our providers.
